Magazine cover

For this task we had to design and develop a magazine cover and contents page for a school magazine. we had to do this task in pairs so for this excercise i worked with wez. We had to do a basic design of what we wanted our magazine to look like and then we were given a camera to go otu and take pictures we thought would b suitable for our magazine. We Then went on photoshop and uploaded our images onto the computer for editing. We chose to have harry as our front cover leaning agasint a wall with his phone to sugest ban phones in school. We Made this the main image on the front cover. The Title of our magazine was 'Lutto's Latest'. we chose to use 3 Colours for our fonts and 3 different font sizes. These were " shades of blue and a yellow,, and font size 48, 40 and 36.

In this task we had to pair up and design a school magazine which had to include Mast head, Title, Price, Coverlines, mid-shot image and a contents page. Me and Wez chose to do a genreal school magazine called 'Lutto's Latest'. After aranging many sub titles and getting a general idea of what we wanted our magazine to look like we went out with a camera to take photos of someone to go on our front cover.. unfortunatly we didnt reli get that many good pictures so wil have to catch up with that.

2nd practical.. Filming+Editing

For our second practical we had to get into groups and film a scene of a person walking through a door and across a room who then had a conversation with another person. For this activitie i worked with Wez, Maz and Cat. We chose to do our filming in one of the D.t classrooms as they had the door to walk through and a resonable size room to film in. we used a variety of shots in our filmig such as tilt shot, point of view shot, mid shot and 180 degree turn shot. our film was of Maz aranging to meet Wez and then ending their relationship. When Editing We had to crop quite a few of our shots to make them fit together and run smoothly and when done the movie was quite good and the camera shots were relativly good. We did however have a few out takes which we didnt use, but looking back at them our proper shots were much better quality. We chose not to put any sound on as we could not find any suitalbe in the music creator that all four of us liked.

If we could improve anything i think it wud of been if we had more time, the reason for this is because our first film was not of good quality so we had to rush the filming although it is relatively good for the space fo time we did it in.

Planning our short clip

ON friday 25/9/09 we had to get into groups nomore than 4 and decide a make a story board for a short clip we are going to film and edit. The film had to consist of certain camera shots and had to b set in a room, where some one walked in through a door and had a converstion with another person opposite them. on the strory board we drew pictures to give us a brief idea of what we were doing in each scene and had a camera shot writeen down and a caption if needed so we were well prepared for next lesson so we can go out and film.

1st practical practice

For our first Pratical we had to go out in groups and Film all of the camera shots we had been told to use. We had to draw up a story board to get the basic setup and order of our camera shooting. In my group was Me, Jamie, Wez and Ben. our idea was to film different shots of Bens moped moving and stood still. We took all the shots and asll had a go at filming and getting used to the camera. Once we had finished filming we went onto imovie and started to edit the footage. Me and Wez split from Ben and Jamie to see how different our movies would be edited. On imovie we had to cut the outtakes and fade the different scences together to get the best possible outcome. After completing this we then chose to put a soundtrack over the video instead of having the original talking. The song we chose was Busted 'Thunderbirds Are Go' as this states something on the move which our moped was doing. We then added a few slides saying credits and titles to finalise the clip.

Overall i think our video shooting went very well as we all got involved and all had a go at getting used to the cameras. I thought we used a good range of shots and all seemed to be smoothly filmed. The thing we could of improved on was the images of the moped moving as we sometimes had to re-shoot these scences as we were either too close or too far so became too blurred.
Our Editing went really well too, me and wez both had a go at it each and both contributed to the order and cutting of each clip and in the end we had a very smooth running video. we also chose to take of the original sound as we thought the song would be more appropiate and go better with the clip. The thing we could of improved with the editing was we could of added a few special effects such as slow motion shots and adding different effects such as black anbd white.

Overall a good first project =]
